Yeah, I love the Daily Show and Colbert Report.
A big stress revliever.

If you have time you should check this video segment out by Bill Moyers of PBS, entitled, "Buying the War." It discusses the Bush administration's propoganda and how they lead the United States into the war in Iraq.

It's a little long, but I loved it. When I was watching the Al - Jazeera documentary I was reminded of Buying the War, a lot.

Hahha...hello only friend! I'm not a very technical person...so this whole "soup" thing is very difficult to get used to. Hope all is well and good news...I've got time to finally work on my paper, so yea I'm getting there.
I'm also super-stoked for JOURNALISM WEEK! and its not because we don't have class. See ya in the future lol

Hey Deidre, major props on the breakfast this morning. In my 16 years of schooling, I don't recall any teacher/professor/etc. ever doing that. :) Thanks for a great semester. Have a great summer!

I noticed that the groups were taken off the sight and am concerned b/c i had multiple discussions that I started on my group page. Should I be worried about that?

Urine samples & Bible fact-checking

Louis Baynard's story "Attention, all you memoir fabulists!" at Salon.com today is great fun. It's a hypothetical "interoffice memorandum":

"Erewhon Publishing has instituted a stringent new "cards on the table" policy. In the future, every memoirist will be required to provide evidence of his or her dysfunction: arrest records, needle tracks, urine and stool samples -- and in the case of Martin Amis, dental bills. "

Do I write like a terrorist?

I was looking for something else altogether when I came upon a Wired story from last year about the federally-funded artificial intelligence lab that's researching "how to track people over the Internet, based on how they write."

From the Wired story:
The University of Arizona's ultra-ambitious "Dark Web" project "aims to systematically collect and analyze all terrorist-generated content on the Web," the National Science F… Continue

J-101 likes Obama, McCain

So Obama takes Georgia ... and Huckabee's doing not-so-poorly.
It's 4:27 p.m. and I'm getting ready to teach magazine writing but hey. This whole Election 2008 thing is like the best reality show going. In this morning's Journalism 101, an informal show of hands predicted that McCain would clobber Romney and Obama would bounce right over Hillary. (Yes, I chose the verb "bounce" on purpose.)
We didn't even vote on Huckabee. I'll hand it to Mike. He has a sense of humor.
For those Ron… Continue

Political cartoon video

The Washington Post's political cartoonist talks about how he crafts a caricature's of political candidates. Interesting to consider how much thought (and psychology, not to mention artistry) goes into a cartoon.
