I joined Soup du Journalism because my good friend Kristin Ghiggeri Burgarello sent me the invitation once Donica set up an Alumni group.
The J School has a very fond place in my heart. It was my second home for many years - I practically lived there my last 2 years of school, as did many of my friends. I was a lab assistant for the broadcast lab, so I had a key to the school - which meant many late nights for me and my friends as we worked on assignments, trying to get packages edited, websites designed, etc. You know how it is! I Our advisor and instructor for broadcast, Travis Linn, was an amazing man - like many of the past and present instructors at RSJ.It was a small family at the J School and he was a friend and like a dad to many of us.
While at the J School I was president of the Broadcast Club and was pretty active within the school. I was there when the new building opened and at the time our enrollment was still small. That is why everyone seemed to know each other and created that small community/family environment. It made for a great college experience for me. Anyway, as I ramble, I still keep in contact with many of my friends from RSJ. After I graduated a group of us tried to create the RSJ Alumni Association that has morphed into the Alumni and Friends of the Reynolds School (that was a great naming idea from Cole Campbell). When I moved back from LV to Reno in 2001, I became actively involved in the Alumni group (we tried to put together events for Alumni -such as the tailgate/bbq during Homecoming). Somehow, actually by default, I became president and served on this group for a few years before I moved to Ohio in 2005. So, if you can't tell, I try to still stay involved in the J School.
I like what the students are doing here on Soup du Journalism. It is one of a handful of social networking sites I visit regularly. I like to see what is going on with the school and the students. To see what is important to you all and what we, as alumni, can do to help you out. I think alumni should be available to current students, which I know many are, whether it is to answer questions, bounce off ideas, help with networking (i.e., getting a job), or just advice.
Keep up the good work and get us (alumni) involved!

I remember you. I joined because a J School friend told me about it and I have a lot of friends from the J School and want to keep in contact with many of them.
