Health experts urge flu caution

Students shouldn’t panic about the swine flu outbreak, but taking general health precautions is a good idea, health experts said. “Could it come here? Yes,” Judy Davis, a spokeswoman for the Washoe County District Health Department, said. “Will it come here? We don’t know yet.”

Former coach turns down $151,000 offer

The University of Nevada, Reno offered $151,000 dollars Friday to former Nevada soccer coach Terri Patraw in a move that was deemed strategic by the school.

State minimum wage to rise 70 cents in July

Nevada’s minimum wage will increase by 70 cents on July 1 after an annual recalculation of minimum wage rates. For some students at the University of Nevada, Reno, this increase means receiving a higher paycheck. Kent Irwin, a 19-year-old English major, works for a local cleaning and maintenance company and is paid minimum wage.

Pack falls in WAC Championships

Both of Nevada’s tennis teams entered the Western Athletic Conference Championships this past weekend in Honolulu riding high on confidence. The men were the No. 4 seed while the women boasted a No. 3 ranking. That swagger was quickly erased as both teams were eliminated from the tournament.

Citizen’s speak in favor of proposed bill
“Don’t waste your tears on fallen soldiers” and “God hates fags” are two of many picket signs held by radical religious groups protesting the funerals of soldiers and other Reno citizens.
